We are delighted to welcome visitors to share in the natural beauty of Windy Brow Nature Reserve while enjoying its outdoor activities.
Windy Brow Nature Reserve is situated about 3.5 km from the historical town of Cullinan. It is here that he world famous Cullinan diamond was discovered in 1905. The reserve is located on the Elandsfontein farm which formed part of the bigger farming unit. Following our adventure trails will lead you to great vistas of the area. Views of Pretoria, the Premier Dimond Mine now known as Petra Diamond Mine and the Magaliesburg Mountain ranges can all be seen from vantage points on the farm.
Game drives are also available to our guests. These however do need to be booked in advanced. No private vehicles are permitted on the reserve. We also welcome educational group to visits the reserve. Please contact us to get more information.
Windy Brow boasts with three distinguishing ecosystems. The Bankenveld which is a sourish mixed bushveld, the rocky highveld grasslands, and montane mountains. It is also home to 15 mammal species and over 150 bird species. Some of these are giraffe, zebra, gemsbok and waterbuck.
To fully appreciate the fauna, flora and views, Windy Brow offers activity trails that meander through these special ecosystems. The trails have been professionally designed to meet both the needs of beginner and experienced enthusiast. In total there are three hiking / trail running trails and three mountain biking trails. All trails are well marked, and easy to follow, even without a map.
Soon to be available will be our new conference center which overlooks a delightful waterhole. This watering hole is home to many bird species and makes a wonderful location for small conference groups. The venue can also be used for private functions and weddings and can comfortably accommodate up to 85 people.
